Overview
The 2003 Kia Optima was released on similar lines of the 2002 Optima, featuring the 8 hp gain and the goodness of 4-cylinder V6 combined with the choice of manual or automatic transmission makes it a good deal.
Engine and Performance
The automatic V6 Optimas come with separate gate for manual shifting, though they don’t have traction control.
The SE trim levels are offered with Optional leather upholstery, while the new improvements in the 2003 Kia Optima include power front passenger seat, standard automatic headlights, and 15-inch wheels.

It was built on similar lines of the 2003 Sonata, and offered at a lower price, with the main difference being only the front fascia and outward looks. The Kia Optima 2003 edition was again a very big success in the market, and turned out to be one of the best performing sedans in the segment.
The vehicle was marketed in the price range of $4,244 to $4,863. Considering the major competitors of the 2003 Optima, the crossover utility vehicle Chrysler PT Cruiser, Pontiac Vibe and Toyota Matrix are the ones that had the upper hand.
Overall, 2003 Optima was one of the great offerings of the year 2003. The safety-wise it was excellent, while the fuel economy was also pretty decent, making it a superb overall package.
