Overview
The 2008 Kia Optima shares its basic design with the current generation Hyundai Sonata, and comes with excellent panel control and instruments. It provides a marvelous driving experience to the driver and equal comfort to the passengers sitting inside the car even throughout a long tiring day of journey.
The 2008 Optima is available in two trims – the LX and the EX trims. The former comes with 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine, which is capable of delivering 162-horsepower of throughput, while the latter one comes powered by a 2.7-liter V6 engine that can produce up to185-horsepower of throughput.
Engine and Transmission
Both the versions come mated with 5-speed manual transmission, though an optional 5-speed auto-transmission is also made available by Kia. The 2008 Optima comes loaded with ample safety features including traction control, ABS, antiskid system, and curtain side airbags. Advanced features such as power-adjustable pedals, power sunroof, heated seats are available optionally, while leather upholstery is available as a standard feature on the EX models.
Major Cons
Looking at the downsides of the vehicle, it has very small trunk opening and an inferior automatic-transmission performance, though driving the 2008 Optima means sheer pleasure. And, above all, it is not going to be too harsh on your pocket, unlike the Hyundai Sonata, Honda Civic and the likes of them.
